The City of Port Arthur Animal Shelter provides animal services for Port Arthur. For animal owners, an emergency veterinary clinic provides care, after your vet's normal hours, for sick or injured pets. Call the Port Arthur Police Department to obtain an emergency clinic at 983-8655.

The City of Port Arthur Shelter is located at 201 4th Street. Dogs and Cats are available for adoption on a daily basis. Our hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday excluding holidays. The fee for adopting a dog is $30 for any dog or cat that is over 6 months of age The fee for any dog or cat that is under 6 months of age is $10.00. Stray animals turned over to the Animal Shelter are held 3 working days before they are offered for adoption. If you need additional information, contact the Animal Shelter at 983-8785 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Animal Shelter routinely has animals available for adoption. Adopted cats and dogs are required to be spayed or neutered by the new owners.

The Humane Society's office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4:00 PM; and Saturdays,11 AM to 4 PM. However, the hours for viewing animals for adoption at their kennel are Tuesday through Friday, 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM; and Saturdays, 11 AM to 4 PM.
