Port Arthur, Texas Brownfields Initiative Information

Brownfields defined: 'Brownfields' are abandoned, idled, or under-used industrial or commercial properties with real or perceived environmental contamination. The Brownfields Initiative, under the auspices of the EPA, works to identify and contain the liability thereof and make redevelopment of Brownfields a worthwhile effort.

There are thousands of Brownfields located around the country, and a few of them in our area. They have potential and promise. Local residents, businesses, and government officials have joined together to explore ways to turn them around.
